What Causes Pain, Redness And Protruding Veins In Throat?

My 5 year old sons throat is bothering him, but doesn t hurt, he said it s like a bug is climbing up his throat. I just checked it and the veins are bright red and almost bulging looking. He also has some little white spots. The veins are what have me concerned. Is that something to be concerned about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I can suggest you to send him to pediatrician to examine his throat or you can also send me a photo of the throat. The red veins may be due to inflammation and the white spots due to infection. He is suffering from tonsillitis and pharyngitis probably.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
