What Causes Pain, Soreness And Swelling In Inner Groin Area After Swimming?

Just got done from a good hike. Went for swim inpool, coming out of pool, I popped something in my right leg. In front and inner groin area, hurts, soar and swolen. No bruising. I am able to walk/hike ok, it is when I have to lift or when I needed to walk sideways when it hurt. Is it just a pulled muscle or do I need to see my doctor?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The redness with pain and swelling in inner groin indicate underlying fungal infection with secondary skin inflammatory changes. The pulled muscle is not a clinical possibility with the provided information.

Need to consult your skin specialist for prescription of antifungal, anti-inflammatory medicines. Local care with miconazole (2%) would be best home care.

Maintain hydration with plenty of liquids and wear loose, clean, cotton inner wear. Further exposure to swimming pool water is not advisable until complete recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
