What Causes Pain, Swelling In Knees With A History Of Bilateral Knee Pain?

I woke up a few days ago with bilateral knee pain. Didnt think much of it until later that night. I noticed both knees were swollen. From then on, both knees are in pain and are not swollen in the am, but by night time they are. I have 2 days that my ankles are now swelling as well. What could it be, its never happened before?

Hi,

You should undergo X-ray of affected joints. Get tests for kidney function. Also get yourself examined for systemic disorder as heart failure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
