What Causes Pain Under Left Breast While Coughing Or Sneezing?

I have a pain under my left breast when I cough, sneeze, or laugh. I have had this for the past 7-10 days. This pain occurred after I had a cold/URI prior to this happening. I went to see my PCP a week ago who seemed to think this could be a pulled muscle since my lungs were clear. He did prescribe tessalon perle to help with the cough. The pain is stabbing and near my heart. I have also been taking 2 tabs advil of 200mg off and on. Not seem to be helping.

reasons of pain in that area can be due to -
muscle pull
costochondritis
resp tract infection/ pneumonitis
syn pneumonic issues
rarely cardiac

all these causes can be discussed with your physician and he can rule out the causes by examination and certain investigations if needed

in my patients I request for a chest X-ray and an ecg and if needed an endoscopy to rule out the causes and preferably start them on some proton pump inhibitor if needed

you can disscuss he above mentioned modalities with your physician who can help you to confirm the diagnosis and to start you on certain medicines if needed

thanks
