What Causes Pain Under The Nail Of Toes While Walking Or Running?

Hello, I feel a pain under the nail of my thumb in both my toes while walking/running. Also if I apply some pressure with my hands at the edge of the toe-thumb or it I accidentally impinges against something, I can feel a very sharp pain there at the edge. I am not able to correctly identify if the nail is growing inward or something. I do not know whether it is because I use indoor shoes even outside. Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

First of all, try to relax. Everything has a solution. From what you are describing, it seems like ingrown toenail, however, a direct consultation will tell more. For the moment, I can advise to soak your feet in warm water, apple cider vinegar, and a tablespoon of baking soda and a few drops of lavender oil. This will help ease the pain and feeling it better with less pressure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
