General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi,
Your problem can be most likely due to herpes. Pain and rash with distribution like you mentioned is most characteristic for herpes. For this I would suggest antiviral drugs like Acyclovir or Famcyclovir for 1 week. If severe pain is there then Gabapentin is also advised.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
