What Causes Pain Under The Ribs On The Left Side?

I hurt on the left side from back to front under ribs.Fells better when I take my bra off don!t like anything touching that side.the pain comes & goes but throbs when it hits!wondering about kidney stones or my liver have been on new medicine for chlosterol? Also have had shot for shingles!
