What Causes Pain While Coughing After CABG ?

after CABG my husband has a pain in his right side just to right of the sterum. if he holds it it s not as painful but hurts when he coughs now and then. The doc says he healing. Is this normal it is in one small spot not sure if maybe a crack in rib from opening his chest up ?

I understand your concern and would explain that his symptoms seem to be related to local inflammation or musculo-skeletal pain.

I don't think that it is a broken rib. Anyway, I would recommend performing a chest X-ray study and inflammation tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR).
