What Causes Pain While Inserting And Removing Tampons?

I have always used tampons and for a few months now they have been painful to take in or out but are fine when they are in. It never hurt when I first used them and now they do, could it be anything to do with going on the pill? Or another reason? As I find using pads extremely awkward and unsuitable.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Vaginal dryness due to vaginitis or soreness can cause pain while inserting or removing tampons.Hormonal imbalance due to endometriosis should also be ruled out.Due to vaginal inflammation, involuntary tightness of muscles can occur leading to pain while using tampons.I would suggest you to use a lubricant to avoid any discomfort. Pelvic floor exercises can help in reducing pelvic spasms. In case of persisting discomfort, you can use sanitary pads until reduction of pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
