What Causes Pain While Moving The Eyeball Post Injury?

A plastic lid popped off of something and hit me in the eye two days ago. My vision doesn t seem to be affected, but it hurts to touch around my eye socket. I also have pain when I move my eye. Is this just normal after trauma to the eye or should I worry about a major issue?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Considering your history of orbital trauma and no vision loss in my opinion you might have developed periorbital contusion which means there is collection of blood around your eyeball following the injury. whenever you touch or move you eyes it will be painful. If there is no vision related problems then it will recover by itself within 2 weeks although if there is a swelling around you eye then it may take up to a month to completely recover. If you developed problems with your vision then please consider a visit to your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Tejas, General & Family Physician
