What Causes Pain While On Periods?

My wife and me during our first sex had to stop after her defloration with more pain. i stopped and didnt do anything further. She had bllod coming during urination and she had bit of pain there. Now after 3 days she got her periods and she is into intolerable pain now, i am not there with her physically now. i want to help her now, what should i do
