What Causes Pain While Swallowing After Choking Up On Food?
Hi , can you please tell me what is common after effects of choking on food please? I chocked yesterday it was very scary, and it feels like my intestines is (under the top part of my ribs close to my hart ) inflamed , if I swallow it hurt and if I drink water it hurt, I did a swim of 3200 meters in the pool with in a hour so fitness is not effected , I ll run 10km in the morning to see what it will do, any advice? Should I avoid food and flush my system out with just drinking water for a day?
I understand your concern. It is possible you might have injured the inner smooth muscles of your food pipe while retching and choking. This is temporary and will get better as the tissue heals in few days. Avoid too hot or two cold foods and drinks as well as avoid spicy food. Milk shakes and anti acids can help with the pain. However, if you do not see an improvement and continue to experience pain, difficulty in swallowing, feel like the food is stuck in your chest, please see a doctor for further investigation. I hope this helps. I wish you good health.
