What Causes Pain While Swallowing?

Hello, I am a healthy 30 yr old woman. I don t drink, smoke or do drugs. I recenly started having some slight pain when i swallow...kind of the same slight pain you get from a sore throat when you feel a cold coming on. this started days ago...Friday i think. When i feel my throat i can feel a lump that i believe is associated with my left tonsil. My right tonsil is totally fine but i can feel that my left is bigger. I haven t had any other symptoms other than those. I see no indication of any spots inside .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Very likely your throat is inflamed (viruses are the most common cause and acid reflux from the stomach). Having some Ibuprofen every 6 hours would help with that.

Meanwhile make sure your drink well and keep yourself hydrated. To reduce the effect of possible acid reflux in the throat (from the stomach) please take also Omeprazole twice a day.

If you take this treatment and notice no improvement in a week or you notice any worsening please see your doctor and have a proper medical check.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Zotaj Antoneta, General & Family Physician
