Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
It hurts to swallow only when i am laying down , and it’s the most painful when i try falling asleep . I checked in the mirror and stuck my tongue out as far as i could and i did see something in the back of my throat i wasn’t sure what it was though . I can be fine all day but as soon as i lay down to go to sleep it hurts so bad to swallow
As per your query, you have pain while swallowing, is mainly because of inflammation of tonsils due to which you cannot swallow saliva even and giving you symptoms and it could be due to minor injury to food pipe.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Do Betadine gargles two times a day.
- Take a course of antibiotics to prevent any bacterial or viral infection.
-Avoid taking spicy and hot food and take light food.
-Taking luke warm milk with turmeric dissolved in it can help you heal faster and it has antiseptic properties too.
If symptoms keeps on persisting, you should consult ENT specialist once for proper diagnosis and start treatment after thorough examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
