What Causes Painful Air Bubble In The Knee?

I feel like i have an air bubble in my knee. Its not constant but when its there it lasts 15-45 minutes. Its only painful when i walk on it. When i twist the knee and apply pressure to it (such as turning my leg when taking a step) it feels and sound the same as cracking my knuckles.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Crepitus in your knee is often harmless, but it can sometimes indicate another health condition is present or developing. I recommend to do an X-ray of the knee for further evaluation. Meanwhile, I suggest using an anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms. I also suggest to rest and elevate the knee.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
