Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
Painful urination after TURP is usually due to urethral swelling caused by the surgery. After the surgery, a catheter is to be left in place for say 48hours to help void the bladder as on your own you will not be able. When the catheter is removed, pain is expected but not to be too severe.Severe pain may motivate reinsertion of a catheter for a few days again or even week. Then an appointment can be given for you to return for removal.
I will advise if the pain is too severe, see the Doctor to reinsert the catheter.A bladder wash through the catheter may help to remove the remaining blood and tissues inside. You can then get an appointment later for catheter removal.
OR a strong pain/antiinflammatory may help you through the process and drink enough water to dilute the blood that may still be in the bladder.
Hope my answer will help you
Wish you a speedy recovery
