What Causes Painful And Persistent Erection After A Penis Fracture?
Hello Doctor, 18 days ago I suffered a fractured penis (girl was on top and came down hitting her perenium). I went to the hospital 3 hours later, and was under the knife just a couple hours after that. The tear to my urethra was worse than the slight tear to my corpus cavernosum. Both were stiched up with sutures and some tissue was placed in between so they wouldn t heal to one another. I left the hospital the next day with a foley catheter. I had that in for 16 days. While I had the catheter in I was waking up with erections (I was on valium for the first 3 days to avoid erections). Now that the catheter is out I m still having erections when I sleep, they re not quite as hard as they should be, but they re a little painful as well. 1. My urologist says I should be fine and that I shouldn t worry about ED. What are your thoughts? Keep in mind, I m having erections, but they re not that hard. 2. My erections in the evening are a bit painful. Do you think this will subside after several weeks when everything is healed up? 3. Do you think I m more susceptible to have this injury reoccur since I ve had trauma there in the past? 4. Any advice for coping with this?
Based on the history you have shared, if urologist is happy with the outcomes of surgery then it means hopefully with in few weeks the pain will subside completely with erections.
Also if nerve damage is not their which is evident with unwanted erections and pain, and there is no physical reason to believe that ED can occur, hopefully you will be fit to go within few weeks.
Recurrence is less likely as it's traumatic and after recovery, it will be back to normal. Extremely agressive acts should be avoided for precaution.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
