What Causes Painful And Red Gums?

My back tooth is almost completely gone, and I'm feeling pain in my gums. I just noticed my lower gums are redder and more veiny. I've been experiencing this pain from time to time and it usually only lasts one day, and I experience no pain or discoloration the next day.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query. Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful and red gums which is because you have edentulous area in mouth due to which while chewing pressure is there directly on gums rather than on teeth. I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get impression of the area done and go for removable partial denture or fixed partial denture. You can go for implant supported denture as well. Apply dologel on inflamed mucosa and massage it. Get your prosthodontic treatment as early as you can as pressure from this area is distributing to other teeth and giving you feeling of generalized pain. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Use muco pain gel as well.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can very well understand your health concern..

As per your complain the decayed tooth and red gums are two different conditions..
The red and veiny gums are as a result of inflammation of gums known as GINGIVITIS and it commonly occurs due to poor oral hygiene and when the inflammation increases there is more of pain and discomfort..
For this you should consult a dentist and get evaluated and in case of Gingivitis Scaling followed by antibiotics like Amoxicillin 500mg thrice a day, metrogyl 400mg thrice a day, Ibuprofen twice daily in case of pain, stolin gum paint for gum massage and Chewing one vitamin C tablet daily can help..

For decayed and fractured tooth if it cannot be saved Extraction has to be done..

Hope this information helps and thanks for writing to Healthcare Magic..

If you find the answer the please give a Five Star Review and click on found the answer helpful as a token of appreciation..
