What Causes Painful Ankle After An Injury?

A day ago, I hit my ankle and I had a small cut. A day after, it started hurting really bad but I dont see any swelling or purpleness, all I feel is an excruciating pain all day when I walk or jump. What s going on and what can I do to help it heal faster?

Hello,

No swelling is against the diagnosis of a torn tendon. Since the symptoms started one day after the incident, infection is likely. There should be redness near the wound and you should feel the wound warmer than the surrounding skin. If this is the case then you have to visit your doctor as soon as possible to avoid further spread.

If it's only a minor tear on the tendon then the swelling might be only minimal, so this is another potential diagnosis. This kind of injury requires cold packs (wrapped with a toilet to avoid direct contact with the skin) to be applied for the first 48-72 hours and elevation of the injured member. An orthopedics specialist is the right doctor to diagnose torn tendons.

I hope I've helped!
