What Causes Painful Bowel Movements And Blood In Stool After An Appendectomy?

I had a laporascopic appendectomy 3 weeks ago and for the past few days have had pain with bowel movements and have noticed red blood when wiping after last bm. My stools are not hard, In fact are loose but I have had a history of internal hemorrhoids

Hello,

It might be due to your haemorrhoids only. Appendicectomy doesn’t generally cause blood in the stool.

As of now, you can take laxatives like lactulose for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hello,

Appendicectomy generally does not cause blood in stool. Most probably it will be due to loca causes like hemorrhoids. Consult a gastroenterologist and plan for a colonoscopy. As of now you can take laxatives like lactulose for symptomatic relief.
