What Causes Painful Bulge In Lower Groin Area?

i have a bulge in my lower right groin area. It is tender and was painful when I had an ultra sound down. Felt like electricity was being sent thru me when the ultrasound paddle went over it. it feels like it rolls and is more visible when I lay down. Any ideas as to what this could be?
