Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I found a painful bump on my right jawbone since Monday. It hurts when I touched it. I feel it is attached to the bone, above the jaw not under. It is a oval or round shape. Is it caused by inflammation? Should I see a doctor immediately or monitor it first? Really appreciate your advise.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain a painful lump over the jawbone that seems attached to bone and is not mobile can be due to tooth infection causing dental abscess.. If it is not the case if can be a bone cyst or a soft tissue overgrowth.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and no dental infection is ruled out it has to be further investigated by getting FNAC/biopsy done so as to rule out the exact cause and treatment will be planned accordingly..
As of now to relieve pain you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
