What Causes Painful Bump With Pustule On Arm?

My fiance has had a bump on his arm since we went away to DR last year. We think it s a bug bite. Today a ball that looked like pus and blood poped out of it and he has a piece of flesh protruding from the hole. It is very painful. What could this be?

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I read your question carefully and understand your concern.

The symptoms you describe, seem to be caused by a chronic infection.

Even if it was caused by a bug bite, the most concerning thing now is a probable infection in this region.

I recommend consulting with the GP for a careful physical examination, a routine blood test and a culture of the material from the bump, to examine better its content and find the proper treatment.

Hope to have been of help!

Greetings! Dr. Iliri
