What Causes Painful Bumps On Tongue And Red Eyes After Taking Nitrofurantoin?

I was recently diagnosed with a Urinary Tract Infection and that part has gone away, but I was given an antibiotic that was Nitrofurantoin Mono. I have since had symptoms such as blood shot eyes, a lightening of my eye color, and really painful bumps/pimple-like structures on my tongue.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms you are suffering from adverse effects or allergic reaction to Nitrofurantoin and you need immediate consultation with Emergency room or your treating physician..
He/she can change the antibiotic with the other options like Norfloxacin and also advise you to take anti-allergic medicines like Cetrizine.
Drink plenty of water to faster wean off the effect of allergen..
Take sufficient rest..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
