What Causes Painful Buttocks With History Of Torn Ligaments Above Knee?

The lower part of my buttocks hurts some times. I have found that some times it hurts down to my ankle. I have found a muscle that hurts very bad when I try to massage my leg. I had a torn ligament about a year ago but don t think it is related since it is the opposite side of the leg and below my knee. The torn ligament was above my knee. The massage seems to be the best way to help ease the pain but it is so painful to massage my leg. I know that it is a muscle. Any thoughts? Thanks ---- Gwen

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having Sciatica pain giving this problem.
This might be due to degenerative changes in your lower spines giving rise pinched nerve pressure symptoms.
Go for x-ray lumbo-sacral spines.
go for back extension exercises daily.
Ok and take care.
