What Causes Painful Cramps After Uterian Polyp Removal Surgery?
I had surgery to remove a uterian polpy on October 27th. I am having my first period since the surgery. I was lead to believe that it would be lighter and less painful, but it definitely isn t. I have had bad cramps for the past 3 day, before the surgery I only had cramps for one day. Before the surgery I only had heavy bleeding for about a day and a half and now I am on my 3rd day of heavy bleeding. The only difference is there are no large clots, but everything else actually seems worse than before. Not sure if this is normal because this is not how I was led to believe it would be. Thanks.
Hi, Any procedure on the uterus would result most often in a slightly heavier period subsequently. There may also be associated pain. This is because of enhanced uterine contraction as a tissue reaction. After polypectomy, almost always there is enhanced bleeding as there are healing bleeding points at the pedicle of the removed polyp. This is also why there is spasmodic pain. An anti-spasmodic with Mefenamic acid is usually very helpful to relieve pain and lessen the bleeding. Hope this helps.
