What Causes Painful Finger Movements After An Injury?

Today during dance practice my hand (more specifically my right index finger/knuckle) collided with some one's elbow with a lot of force. Now it hurts to bend my index finger (into a fist or anything like that) and it is difficult to straighten my finger fully. Any idea what is wrong and possible treatments?
