What Causes Painful Heart Palpitations After Being Treated For Hypertension?

I am a 53 year old man in athletic condition. Normal heart rate 57-62 BPM. 5 11 158 lbs. I am being teated for hypertension with a calcium channel blocker for last two years. Last few weeks I have been having heart palpitations...sometimes slightly painful. Not sure what is causing them.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear ,
This is Dr.S.Tomar from Healthcaremagic.com's medical team and I will be your medical advisor for this question.
Heart palpitations with pain should be evaluated further with ECHO and stress test to rule out coronary artery disease . I would recommend you to consult your cardiologist straight away and get these tests done .
I wish you good health.
Best Regards,
DR.S.TOMAR
