Hi, I recently had a pap smear done and also had std tests done earlier as well...all tests came out negative. However, I now have this huge red pus filled bump that has shown up on my labia...it is quite painful btw, and I occasionally have similar bumps appear on my inner thigh as well. I also feel thay I should mention that I noticed that when I keep my genitals trimmed, I don t have this issue. Idk if that has something to do with it or not, but what am I experiencing?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Solitary bumps which are puss filled can be due to bacterial infection. It can be most likely folliculitis. If multiple are there then genital herpes should be ruled out. Keep proper genital hygiene. You can use intimate wash regularly to normalize vaginal PH and normal flora which also helps against infections. You can apply betadine ointment on the bumps you get. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
