Hello,

Painful itching in the vulva commonly occurs due to vaginitis, (inflammation, itching & pain). Other medical conditions can be due to STD, yeast infection or UTI.

You are suggested to get physically examined. You should get STD tests done to stay on the safer side. Get blood tests & Urinalysis (C/S, R/E) done to rule out UTI.

Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected, your treating doctor may give you antibiotics or antivirals.

Avoid sex for a couple of days, take care of your hygiene. You can apply hydrocortisone cream/ointment in the affected area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
