Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a painful lump or knot under the jaw bone can be an enlarged and inflamed lymph node, or infected salivary gland

The inflammation of the lymph nodes occurs due to infection especially in the nearby areas of the body like in case of lump under jaw bone if it is an inflamed lymph node can be due to any infection in a tooth or a salivary gland infection, inflammation in the gum flap above an impacted or erupting wisdom tooth or at times can be due to throat infection..

At times the swelling under the jaw can be due to infection in the salivary gland leading to enlargement in the gland or due to obstruction in the ducts of salivary gland leading to pooling of saliva into the gland causing swelling and at times infection can also occur due to it..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral pathologist and get evaluated for the exact cause of the swelling and treatment will be planned accordingly..

In case of infections antibiotic therapy can be helpful..

In case of blocked ducts of glands removal of the blockage can provide relief..

Hope your query is solved..
