Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a painful lump that formed about three - five days ago in my armpit. It s grown to about the size of an olive, but without a definitive shape. I ve also been feeling a little run down and tired this week. I m not able to get in to see my GP until next week. Should I try taking some Ibuprofen in the meantime.
Understanding your concern. Painful lumps in armpits as you mention in your query can be a result of a simple tissue growth or due to some more serious problem like indication of malignant growth.Usually they do not need any treatment and go away in few days with the help of simple home remedies .
Yes you can take iburprofen in the mean time ,Also you should give warm compresses to that area ,this will relieve the lumps if they are due to simple tissue growth like lipoma and fibroadenoma.
If the condition persist for more then a week or lump attain more size you should immediately consult doctor to rule out some serious condition like breast cancer in women .
Hope your concern had been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
