What Causes Painful Lump In Neck?

i am 31 years old n 5 foot 8 inches , 168lbs , i have a lump on my neck , around the front right next to my adam s apple , that seems to have formed overnight (at least i didn t feel it yesterday ) it kind of hurts , as if my skin is stretched , i have tried squeezing it and after much force only a little oily substance comes out , should i be worried ? at first i thought it was an ingrown hair , but after squeezing it , and nothing , i am worrying .

Hi,Dear,
Thanks for the query to HCM. I studied your problem in depth and I understood your concerns.
Cause of painful lump in neck-In your case the cause of the lump,which formed overnight-mostly is the thyroid cyst? or the Epidermoid lump -which are congenital hamartomas , with sebaceous cyst like oily substance from it, which got infected and is causing stretched skin lump,with oily substance in it.
This advise is based on the facts from the history you give and needs further clinical check.
So don't build up wrong concepts and create more psychic complications in you which would increase risks and costs to you, but just ask a query to HCM and be comfortable to resolve your health issues.
