What Causes Painful Lymph Nodes In The Neck?

My husband is 59 yrs. old and has been dealing with pain in the glands in his neck for a couple months now. It seems to worsen when he does certain physical activities. The pain interferes with his sleep and bothers him throughout the day. It s not like a sore muscle but rather a constant pain. We don t have insurance so he is hesitant to get medical help!

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Painful glands in the neck can be most probably swollen lymph nodes or Lymphadenopathy which can be due to infection in lymph nodes..

But in case if the swelling is not subsiding since months, now it needs evaluation..

You should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination should be done along with an ultrasound and FNAC if needed..

If it is just infection then a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen and muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone can be advised..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
