Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and understand your concern.

If you have missed a period or your periods are not regular you will need to have a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy as a possible cause of your symptoms.

If your periods are regular but your notice these cramps with the periods in some women this is normal and in some other women this may happen due to endometriosis, a condition that typically causes painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea). To help with it sometimes it is recommended to take oral contraception pills for 3-4 moths and if symptoms improve while on oral contraception very likely it is endometriosis causing the symptoms.

If you have these cramps and malodorous vaginal secretion or pain during intercourse you will need to see your doctor to rule out infections like chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
