What Causes Painful Periods?

Hi there, I have always had painful periods. Last week (Wednesday) I got a really light period which lasted 3 days (yay!) then Monday this week I woke up early in the morning in the most excruciating pain, I had the runs, vomiting, fever and I was exhausted. I couldn t move because the pain was so bad. I ve had a miscarriage before and I would say the pain was on par with that. I don t think I am / was pregnant. Help?

Hello,
In view of the past history and the present symptoms, it becomes necessary for you to exclude pregnancy through a blood test and also a trans-vaginal sonogram. The sonogram will also help to look for pelvic masses, adhesions etc., which may be the cause for the pain. If pregnancy is negative, one should think of a pelvic infection, endometriosis, excessive prostaglandin release and adhesions. Appropriate treatment after proper appraisal by a specialist helps allay your difficulties. Hope this helps.
