General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain in the shin can be due to multiple causes. It can be a bone pain or muscle pain or referred pain. Has he any history of fall or accidental injury? I suggest you visit a orthopedic surgeon regarding this, along with physical examination a few imaging tests along with blood tests need to be performed to know the exact underlying cause. Medical history is also vital. Depending on the cause he will be treated appropriately.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
