What Causes Painful Sores In The Mouth?

Recently I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I was given Methotrexate and had a severe reaction. I took folic acid. I have sores in my mouth and tongue. It has been 6 weeks since I stopped taking the medication but my mouth and tongue are still very painful. What else can I do to stop the reaction.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you had a severe allergic reaction to Methotrexate leading to Apthous Ulcers or Canker Sores..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can start gargling with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain and discomfort..
You can start taking Multivitamin supplements daily for atleast one month..
You can start doing warm saline gargles..
Take Ibuprofen to relieve pain..
Suck ice and rinse cool water..
Avoid hot and spicy food and take a soft bland diet..
You should maintain avoid Oral hygiene..
Drink plenty of water..
Avoid Stress by doing meditation and yoga..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
