What Causes Painful Spasms On The Back?

I had a sharp pain, like a spasm, begin in my back yesterday. Today it isn t as sharp of a pain but it still comes on, periodically, but not continuous. I am being treated for high blood pressure and progressive kidney disease and I am wondering if the spasm like pain in my mid-back, right side only, is related to the kidney disease?

As you are sufferring from kidney disease chances are high of pain due to kidney origin.
Spasm due to kidney pain is not seen routinely.
Be careful before taking any pain killer as you are sufferring from kidney disease.
Try Ice packs in the pain and spasm area, if it doesnt relieve pain and spasm than you need to consult your treating dr.
