What Causes Painful Spasms Under Right Breast And Burning Sensation In Upper Back?

I have had this prob off and on for 20 years. They think it is IBS, but I just don t get it. I have pain rt side under my breast (like spasms) and burning in my upper back, same right side. I have a feeling it is gas that is causing the problem. but is always upper chest area. When it is bad, I can t sit or lay down. Sometimes the pain is so bad, it is hard to breath. I don t know what causes it, but I know food irritates it, and makes the pain worse. It will eventually pass, but sometimes not for hours... I know that it is not life threatening, since I have it so long, but I worry because my mom passed away from colon cancer. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello,

Yes, most likely it can be chronic gastritis. You can try having less fried and non spicy food and take OTC antacids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
