What Causes Painful, Stiff And Red Knuckles?

my knuckles in both hands are very painful, stiff and red after activity...the pain feels like a bee stinging me. After watering my plants with a hose. my fingers that were involved in holding the end to squirt the water, were stuck in the curled position...I had to use my other hand to release them. I have had painful knuckles and stiffness for the past two years

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Any history of fever, early morning stiffness of joints, back pain should be ruled out.Complete blood count, serum creatinine, uric acid,Erythrocyte sedimentation rate and Antirheumatoid antibodies should be measured to identify if any kind of arthritis is present.Vitamin d and calcium supplements can be taken for bone health.

Hope that was helpful.Let me know if i can assist you further.
