What Causes Painful Swelling And Inflammation In The Right Lower Leg?
Hello, my mother 82 but in excellent health) has had painful swelling, redness, and warmth in her lower right leg for 2 months. She has had an MRI on low back to rule out sciatica, an ultrasound to rule out deep vein thrombosis, she used cortisone cream which showed some initial improvement but now is not helping. It is starting in the left leg. We are perplexed and she is very discouraged... morning are the worst, she can barely get up and moving. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The symptoms are more likely suggestive of inflammatory conditions like cellulitis. Consult a general surgeon and start a short course of antibiotics.
Generally the symptoms will settle in couple of weeks.
