My gland on my areola, under my nipple is swollen and hurts. I did just get my period today, but this has never happened to me. It hurts without me touching it. I read that this is common with periods but I am 28 and this never once happened to me. I m concerned that it may be something serious...

Thanks for posting in HCM.
The symptoms you are describing about swelling of gland on areola is suggestive of infection of glands if skin called 'furrunculosis'.
Kindly clean the site with mild antiseptic like Savlon twice a day. Apply Soframycin cream following that over the lesion. Take Tablet. Amoxicillin with Clavulenic acid antibiotic twice a day for 5 days. Also take Tablet. Diclofenac with Serratiopeptidase twice a day after food for 3 days.
Your symptoms should subside in about 3 to 5 days.
