What Causes Painful Swelling In Hand After Injecting Heroin?

I injected heroin n what i thought was a vein n my left wrist area a couple iches above my thumb, as soon as i was done plunging it n it immediately felt like my hand was on fire. My thumb, index, and ring finger and the part of my palm between thise fingers and my wrist swelled up. Also looks blotchy n the mentioned area. What happened?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems like you missed the vein while injecting heroine or there have been allergic reaction to heroine leading to burning, pain and swelling in hand while injecting heroine..
I would suggest you to do cool compresses over the swelling..
You can start taking anti allergics like Levocetrizine or allegra..
Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Apply steroid ointment over the swollen area.
In case of no improvement in 3 to 4 days consult a physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and can also advise you injectable steroids and anti allergics..
