What Causes Painful Swelling In The Ankle?

I have just experienced sudden, severe pain in the right ankle--all around the ankle bones front and back. Pain started suddenly with no recognizable cause abiut 3 hrs ago.. Now I can not stand on it or walk without extreme pain. Swelling is slight altho have had ice on it last 30 minutes--pain continues to worsen??

Hello,

It could be a sprain or a contusion.

As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.
