What Causes Painful Swelling In The Legs While Having Hepatitis-C?
I have hepatitis C, until recently I have not had any symptoms. Recently however my feet, ankles, and legs have become swollen and painful, indicating need for diuretic. At the same time, my mouth is extremely dry, indicating that I am dehydrated already. I have tried compression socks with no relief. I also have petechiae and purpura on extremities. These symptoms started after I had recovered from septic shock, brought about by severe case of pneumonia. Any advice or comments??
Hi Thanks for positng your query on HCM. I have read and understood your concern.Sorry to hear you are suffering from hepatitis C. Hepatitis C if not controlled or treated may evolve to cause liver problems that may manifest with lower limbs edema.I will suggest you see a Gastrologist for evaluaton.Your Doctor may request an abdominal ultrasound, liver function tests, fasting blood sugar, full blood count and if need be, other tests may be requested. In the meantime, i will advise you elevate your legs while lying, reduce salt intake and reduce fluid intake. Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns. Wish you good health
