What Causes Painful Swelling In The Neck And Cough?

I have the following symptoms. 1) front base (left & right side) of my neck feels sore ...possible some swelling. 2) exhaustion 3) cough, feel like I need to clear throat, etc. I was outside during a winter snow storm ...possibly breathing heavily through throat when having to hike about a mile.

Hi,

Thank you for your concern and consultation. Swelling of the neck painful lymph nodes may be indicative of acute lyphadenitis. This is due to infection bacterial infections. Tuberculosis and lymphoma are possibilities but not normally associated with pain. Lymph node in the neck may also represent a diseases in the throat, lung, stomach. so tests to rule out these areas are important.
