What Causes Painful Swelling Of Lymphnodes Behind The Ear In Children?
Hi my 9 year old daughter has a pea size lump behind her ear that has been there since last week , a visit to the gp said it was a lymph node. she now has developed more lumps lower down in her neck and feels a little unwell and ache . her temp is 36' but looks flush in he face. appriciate some advice please .
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swollen and painful lymph nodes are commonly due to Reactionary Lymphadenitis which can occur due to infection in the area of the body drained by that particular group of lymph nodes.. As the swollen lymph nodes are behind the ear and in the neck it can be due to infection in head and neck region.. A short course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin and painkillers like Tylenol can help in regressing the lymph nodes and help in relieving pain .. You can also do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lymph nodes..
In case if the lymph nodes does not show signs of regression in 2 weeks you can get an FNAC/Biopsy done to confirm the cause and treatment can be proceeded accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
