What Causes Painful Swelling On The Neck And Under The Chin?

I have a swelling on my neck, under my chin, above my Adam's apple. It is tender to the touch but not painful. The swollen area is largest directly in the middle, about the size a small avocado seed. On either side of the larger swollen area, behind & on the left is a swollen, round lump about the size of a gumball. I am wondering what is causing this swelling.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain a swelling under the mandible that is tender to touch seems to be most probably swollen lymph nodes that can be most probably due to infection in Oropharyngeal or head and neck region..
Another cause can be Lymphoma formation..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician or an ENT EXPERT and get evaluated..
He can do a clinical evaluation and also advise investigations like MRI SCAN and FNAC/Biopsy to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treat accordingly..
As for now take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to relieve pain..
Do cool compresses..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
