Hi. I have had a painful left knee for four months. Occasionally it improves slightly. Now my leg is swollen from above the knee to my ankle. Calf muscle painful when walking. Knee feels heavy and tight when I bend it. Does not appear red or hot to touch.

You have not indicated your weight, B.P. and blood cholesterol etc. Prima facie it could be Osteoarthritis. Primarily only pain killers are given but that's not the remedy.

Swollen, painful leg, though not much indicative of DVT but please watch for it if heaviness and swelling and redness increases ( no redness at present). It's essential to exclude.

As of now, pour hot water over legs. Take little turmeric powder in warm water continuously and clean your guts by mild herbal laxative e.g. Triphala capsules.

Your weight should be normal. Physiotherapy and Yoga postures will improve it. To avoid surgery, some other reports as mentioned above may be sent before I comment further.

Hope its useful.
